AI glossary

AI governance

Also called governance of AI, responsible AI governance.

AI governance is how an organisation decides and checks its use of AI: who may use which tools, with what information, who approves new uses, who owns each one, and how problems are reported and fixed. It covers the policy, the roles and the records, whether the organisation builds AI or only buys it.

Think of it as

The rules of the road, and who issues the licences.

Why it matters at work

No policy is still a policy: if nobody decides, each person decides for themselves, often on a personal account. Module 7 covers setting the standard, including how far AI may reach into your systems.
