AI glossary · a term from The AI Stairway™
Stakes ladder
A stakes ladder is a way to decide how hard to check what AI produces, by what’s at stake. The AI Stairway™ course uses four rungs: ideas, notes, work that goes out in your name, and anything touching care, money or rights, where you check every claim and figure against its source.
Think of it as
Checking a text to a friend, against checking a contract.
Why it matters at work
Checking everything to the same standard wastes time on low-stakes work and still misses the high-stakes slip. Module 2 teaches it, and later modules use it to set how tightly to control an agent.
This is a term The AI Stairway™ course uses for its own method; you won’t find it in every AI glossary.
